Chris Brown was born in New York but grew up and went to school, in Naples, FL. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, with honors, and the University of Florida College of Law. After working as an “in house” legal counsel for major corporations; Chris joined the Office of the Public Defender, in 2002, to pursue his dream of practicing as a courtroom trial attorney. He left that office, after trying over 20 cases, in 2004 and he has been in private practice ever since. Chris became a partner in the Firm of Brown, Suarez, Rios & Weinberg, P.A., in 2006.

Chris confines his practice, almost solely, to criminal defense and personal injury litigation in State and Federal courts. He has tried well over 150 jury trials, including several extremely high-profile, punishable by life, cases in: Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Dade, Desoto, Monroe and Pinellas counties. Chris has represented thousands of clients in various criminal matters, from: DUI’s and other misdemeanor charges to murder, sexual battery and narcotics trafficking. In doing so he has also argued hundreds of evidentiary motions and bench trials. Furthermore, he has briefed and argued dozens of appeals before State and Federal appellate courts.

As well as being a member of the Florida Bar, Chris is a member of the Charlotte County Bar Association and a former three-term member of the Calusa Chapter of the American Inns of Court. He is currently a member of the Thomas Biggs Chapter of the Inns, in Collier County. He is also a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys (FACDL). Chris is the past-president and one of the founding members of the Charlotte Chapter of FACDL. He was the winner of the FACDL Statewide President’s 2007 “Extra Mile Award.” As a member of FACDL’s Amicus Committee, Chris made proposals to the Florida Supreme Court that were incorporated into some jury instructions used in Florida criminal trials today. Chris also had the honor of being the former Chairman of the Florida Bar’s Group C Grievance Committee for the 20th Judicial Circuit.

Chris has been published in “The Defender” magazine and he has lectured at continuing legal education seminars and the Ave Maria School of Law on topics such as: jury selection, contesting “false confessions” and general trial tactics. Chris has been recognized by Martindale Hubbell as an A/V rated attorney (the highest rating that service hands out). Attorney rating site has awarded Chris a perfect 10 out of 10.
